Start therapy!
Over the course of the first few sessions, we will work together to create a tailored treatment plan to address your child's difficulties.
-
What are the counsellors qualifications?Rachel is an accredited counsellor registered with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. Rachel has an enhanced DBS in addition to regular safeguarding training and nearly a decade's experience of counselling children and young people in various settings.
-
Can my child have a mixture of both online and in person sessions?Yes. We aim to tailor sessions to the needs of you and your child so many children have a mixture of online and in person sessions to be able to continue therapy when away at university or during the school holidays.
-
How much do sessions cost? The cost of an online session is £75. The cost of an in person session is £90. The increase in price is to cover the cost of the therapy space. Payment for each session is required 24 hours prior to the session and is made via bank transfer.
-
What ages do you work with?We work with children and young people aged 11 to 25 years.
-
Do you work with medical insurance providers?Yes, we work with Bupa, AXA, Aviva and many more insurance providers. Contact us for further information.
-
Do you work with neurodiversity?Absolutely. Rachel is a trained ADOS Assessor and has wide ranging experience in children with Special Educational Needs such as Autism and ADHD.
-
How often will the sessions be?If your child presents with safeguarding concerns, we will recommend they have weekly sessions until their mental health improves. Otherwise, there is the option of weekly or fortnightly sessions.
-
When will sessions end?We tailor the duration of sessions to the needs of the child. Some children may have as few as three sessions whilst some children still attend monthly sessions as a check in on a more long term basis. Generally, we review your child's progress every six sessions.
-
How much will the counsellor tell me about my child during the course of their sessions? If your child presents with any safeguarding concerns during the session, this will be shared with the relevant parties immediately. All other content of the sessions is confidential and will only be shared with the child's consent.
-
How are sessions arranged? All sessions are arranged via our online booking system. You or your child can book one or a number of sessions in advance at a time and date to suit you.
-
How many sessions will my child need? The number of sessions often depends on the nature of the mental health difficulty, the engagement of the child in sessions and external circumstances that may help or hinder progress. We discuss how we will work together at the initial consultation but generally review after a course of six sessions. Sessions are offered on a weekly or fortnightly basis.
-
How much information do I need to provide to the counsellor about my child? You will have submitted information about your child via the Contact Us form when you have made the initial referral and when you completed the Parent Contract prior to our first meeting. There is no requirement to provide further information but you are welcome to do this should you wish to. We ask that you inform your child of the information you are sharing prior to our first meeting.
-
Do I need to attend sessions with my child? When possible, we encourage children to attend sessions independently. However, sessions are tailored to the needs of the individual so if your child would feel more comfortable attending a first session with a parent or carer, this is permitted.
-
What if my child does not want counselling or does not want to return after the first session? It is important to know that counselling is only effective if your child is ready, willing and engaged. It can be tempting to try and persuade your child to attend if you feel it will be beneficial. However, if your child has expressed after the first session that they do not wish to attend further sessions, it is important to respect their decision.
